Mission statement

Multi-scale Analysis of Principles of Cellular Organization

Our long-term objective is to understand the spatial and dynamic organization of the cell at all levels of complexity:

  1. -How are processes at the molecular level integrated to generate subcellular structures?

  2. - How are the size, shape, and interactions of these structures controlled at the systems level to respond to the needs of the cell?

  3. - How does improper internal organization contribute to the cellular basis of disease?

As a model system for intracellular organization we study the size and topology of mitochondrial networks in budding yeast.

We take an interdisciplinary approach by combining microscopy, molecular genetics, and computational methods.
